https://www.tobinscience.com/webquest-solutions.htmlHow it works
Your teacher gives you the webquest sheet (paper or digital). Every answer goes on it.
Each stop opens in a new tab. Use the sliders and buttons on that page — your answers come from what you see.
Close the tab, tick Done, and open the next stop. Finished early with a partner? Play the bonus.
Stops
Solutions Unit Intro
Read the purple potion puzzle, pick a big question, play two activities.
Simple Science Video: Solutions
Watch the one-minute Solutions video twice and fill in the tables.
Vocabulary
Flip the Word Wall cards and define 14 words in your own words.
Solutions Part A: Solute and Solvent, Conductivity, Concentration
Watch salt, sugar and sand in water, test which liquids light a bulb, mix a drink.
Solutions Part B: Dissolving Speed and Solubility Curves
Race two beakers of sugar, then click a solubility curve to mix a solution.
Solutions Part C: Solubility Curve Practice and Worked Examples
Practice reading solubility curves, then work through six examples.
Solutions Part D: Acids and Bases, Household pH Lab, Practice
Slide the pH, test household liquids with an indicator, then practice.
Wrap-up: Solve the purple potion puzzle
Go back to the puzzle at the top of the unit intro and explain the three colors with what you learned about indicators and pH.
Bonus: 1v1 HS Solutions
- Only when you and a partner have both finished every stop.
- One computer, two players: Red uses the W A S D keys and Blue uses the arrow keys. It needs a keyboard, so it will not work on a phone.
- Press Enter the Arena, pick a game, and play to 3 wins.
For teachers
Post this link for your students
Students move through five free tobinscience.com resources in order: the Solutions, Acids & Bases unit intro, the one-minute Simple Science video, the unit vocabulary, the full Solutions section (Parts 1–9 and 12: solute and solvent, conductivity and concentration simulations, a fair-test dissolving race, the click-the-graph solubility curve explorer, endless curve practice, worked examples, a pH and indicator simulation, a household pH lab and practice), and a 1v1 review game for early finishers. Every answer comes from what the page shows, matching SPS6a–e.
Time: about 80–85 minutes (two 45-minute periods, or one block)
What students need
- One Chromebook or computer per student (the 1v1 bonus needs a keyboard and two students on one computer)
- Headphones are optional (the video is about one minute)
- No student accounts or sign-ins; nothing to install

Good to know
- The curve practice, the practice set and the sort are randomized, so those scores and questions vary from student to student. The simulation readings in the data tables (conductivity words, concentration words, solubility limits, indicator colors, household pH values) are fixed, so those match the key.
- Stop 1 activities award grams-per-liter (g/L) points that are saved only on that device; students write their score on the sheet.
- In Stop 5 the race result is written as "about N times faster"; the simulation adds a little randomness, so accept anything close to the key.
- The 1v1 bonus is for pairs who have both finished. It is head-to-head review of the whole solutions, acids and bases unit.
- The solutions page also has real-life cards (Part 10) and a myth-or-fact set (Part 11) that the webquest does not visit. They make a good warm-up the next day.
- Short on time? Stops 1–3 make a good first day and Stops 4–7 a second day.
- The printable student webquest and its answer key come with the Word / PDF webquest download. This page holds no answers, so it is safe to post.
