Privacy Policy

Tobin Science is built by a practicing classroom teacher, and protecting student privacy comes first. Our tools are designed to collect as little data as possible. This policy explains, in plain language, what we do and don't collect.

Student privacy: we keep students anonymous

• Students do not create accounts and do not enter personal information to use our products.
• Teachers hand out reusable access codes, and students play using those codes. We do not collect student names, emails, or other personally identifiable information.
• Where a game includes an optional leaderboard, students choose a display name or initials that are not tied to any real identity, used only to show game rankings.

Tools that stay on your device

Some tools, such as the Class Manager, store all information locally in the teacher's own web browser. That data stays on the device, is never transmitted to us, and is cleared when the teacher clears it.

Review Quest: zero student data on our servers

Review Quest is designed so that no student information ever reaches our servers:

• A student types a first and last name so their teacher can recognize their work. That name is saved only in the student's own browser (so their progress is remembered) and inside the reward code the student sends directly to their own teacher. It is never transmitted to us or stored in our systems.
• When a teacher pastes reward codes into their dashboard's Insight panel, the codes are decoded entirely inside the teacher's browser, and the results are saved only on the teacher's own device. Student names and scores never pass through or rest on our servers.
• The only information we store for Review Quest is the teacher's account: their email address, their purchased units, and the display settings they type in (their name, school, and class-currency name).

Teacher accounts and purchases

When a teacher buys a product, we store only the teacher's email address so we can deliver access and provide support. We use trusted third-party services to run the site securely:

• Stripe processes payments. We never see or store full payment card details.
• Supabase securely stores account information, access codes, and game leaderboard entries.
• YouTube hosts our embedded videos; watching them is subject to Google/YouTube's own privacy policy.

What we don't do

• We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information.
• We do not use advertising networks or third-party analytics. Our own store pages keep an anonymous count of page views and where visitors came from — with no cookies, no IP addresses, and no personal information.
• We do not share data with third parties for marketing.

Children's privacy (FERPA & COPPA)

Because students use our products anonymously and we do not collect student personal data, our tools are designed to help teachers and schools stay compliant with student data privacy laws such as FERPA and COPPA.
